In this episode, host Sally Hed Dahlquist talks with Celeste Glover, a community builder, athlete, fundraiser, real estate investor, and survivor of a devastating spinal cord injury after a motorcycle accident. After a T6/T7 spinal cord injury left her paralyzed, Celeste’s life changed in ways she could never have imagined, physically, emotionally, professionally, and personally.

But Celeste is still Celeste: a Type-A go-getter, a woman who loves old houses, strong communities, movement, purpose, and possibility. She's currently raising money through On My Feet to pursue spinal cord treatment while continuing to raise awareness about spinal cord injuries, adaptive sports, disability, chronic pain, and the reality of rebuilding a life after trauma.

From FES biking and swimming to wheelchair pickleball, fundraising, nerve pain, surgeries, and the emotional courage it takes to keep going, Celeste’s story is honest, raw, funny, and deeply powerful.

In this episode, you’ll hear:

  • How Celeste survived a spinal cord injury after a motorcycle accident in Montana
  • What changed after her T6/T7 injury, and what stayed the same
  • Why the emotional side of spinal cord injury has been harder than the physical side
  • How Celeste’s husband, Rick, has supported her through the realities of daily life after injury
  • Why asking for help has become both necessary and empowering
  • How Celeste uses an FES bike, swimming, stretching, massage wraps, standing frame work, and adaptive fitness to maintain strength and circulation
  • Why Ability360 and the adaptive sports community have been life-changing for her
  • How wheelchair pickleball, swimming, and exercise help her physically and emotionally
  • What she has learned about depression, identity, grief, and purpose after injury
  • Why she is raising money through On My Feet for spinal cord treatment
  • How her work restoring distressed historic homes still connects to her larger purpose
  • Why she believes community, movement, and support are essential to survival

Whether you are living with disability, supporting someone through a life-changing injury, rebuilding after trauma, or trying to find your purpose again after everything has changed, Celeste’s story is a reminder that identity can evolve without disappearing. You can grieve what was lost, ask for help, build a new team, and keep moving toward something meaningful.

This episode discusses suicide and the disproportionate rates of people with a spinal cord injury completing suicide. If you or someone you love is in crisis, help is available at the national suicide hotline: call 988
